This Murano chandelier, the Bubble, is a masterpiece of vivid and lively colors and is part of the collection of modern Murano glass chandeliers.
This is a Murano chandelier composed of spheres of countless colors, called in jargon "Harlequin". Due to the colors it is composed of and characterized by a particular design, this chandelier must preside over a large space such as a banquet hall, or a ballroom, or a large foyer. This Murano harlequin chandelier also integrates perfectly in a high-level professional commercial space such as a wellness center, a law firm or a plastic surgery suite or in hotels and restaurants.
This Murano chandelier features spheres and half spheres, perfectly crafted in multicolored glass, in fact a Murano chandelier in line with the tradition of colors in Murano glass. It is the definition of a successful and luxurious environment, with every shade of colors, delicate or bright, translated into glass and light.
The diffusers of this Murano chandelier, the light bulb housings, called cups or mugs, are located in the lower part of this unique chromatic work, this allows the light to illuminate the components, formed by the various colors giving the Murano chandelier the effect of shining from within.
This Murano chandelier is also completely customizable, versions are available with multiple lights (light sources) and with different colors.
In this model the strength and beauty of Murano glass is immediately realized:
the colors.
Murano is synonymous with hand-crafted colored glass. When used as a lamp, the glow of the bulb illuminates the glass and brings out the beautiful colors and designs. In many cases the design is further projected onto a wall or ceiling giving a beautiful, soft illumination to the room.
The design of Murano glass lamps is varied. Murano glass can be used for table lamp bases, lamp shades, floor lamps, sconces, pendant lights and chandeliers.
Combinations of milky and clear glass, or glass with swirls of metal foil are commonly used for classic style lamps and chandeliers, while millifiore (thousand flowers) and zanfirico (twisted glass ribbons) are used for more contemporary designs. Colors can range from soft pastels to bright and contrasting.
It is helpful to remember that each item is handmade in the authentic Murano way, using secret techniques passed down for centuries. As a result, each piece is a unique work of art and while the Murano artisans may try to make identical pieces, no two are identical. This may be important to you if you need multiple shades for your light fixture - they will vary somewhat.
Clear Murano glass is superbly clear and crystalline without any of the unwanted discoloration, usually green or grey, found in cheaper glass. The process to produce this perfectly clear glass was developed by Murano glass masters in 1450. Although the glass is said to be as clear as crystal, it is important to note that it is Murano glass and NOT crystal. For this reason, a clear Murano glass chandelier becomes an artistic masterpiece with a glamorous sparkle that can never be achieved from a mass-produced chandelier made of cheap glass.
Murano chandeliers are not cheap, but each one is a work of art. A relatively small chandelier costs around 1000-2000 euros from our online shop and around 3000-4000 euros from a fine art dealer in one of the capitals of the world.
With the resurgence of popularity of art deco styles, the popularity of Murano glass table and floor lamps has skyrocketed. A simple 1950 Murano glass table lamp can fetch $3500 from a dealer in New York or London, while a pair of Murano sconces can sell for $4000.
This highlights the investment value of good Murano glass lamps and the demand for them as collectibles.
